Areas of interest : I have a rather eclectic interest inhistory. I enjoy studying almost any era, lately it has been mostly the
classical world but my interest is turning to the Napoleonic wars also.
About history: I have always had an interest in history, even as a kid. The stories in history are the
stories of us. To understand the past is to know ourselves and shape our future.
Our present day politics, lifestyles, economics, fashions, prejudices and even many of our desires are influenced by what our ancestors did in their
lifetimes. Seeing the trends in the past may help us to solve the challenges of the future. To me there is nothing more interesting than studying the
past, to hear the stories of those that have gone before and imagine what their lives were like. If it is true that we are products of our
environments (as much as our biology probably more) then our environment is indeed a product of our history.
Other hobbies: Science fiction, chess, weight lifting (I am a competition
Strongman), vegetable gardening, gourmet cooking, computers, writing and an occasional glass of Famous Grouse, neat if you please.
