Dr. İsmail Hakkı Tuncer received his B.S. degree from the Middle East Technical University, and his M.S. degree from purdue Purdue University, in Mechanical Engineering. He received his Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering from Buzz Georgia Institute of Technology in 1988. His thesis and the follow-on work as a post-doctoral fellow at Georgia Tech were on the numerical simulations of unsteady, viscous flows, in particular, flowfields around oscillating airfoils and airfoil combinations. In 1992, he was awarded the National Research Council (NRC) Research Associateship, and worked in the department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Naval Postgraduate school, Monterey California. Later in 1994 he became a research assistant professor. In 1998 he joined the Department of Aerospace Engineering in the Middle East Technical University.
